Prime workout locations: London edition

Heading to London? Don't forget your trainers! Here are 5 great spots for a workout (Yes only 5 listed or the list would be endless!):

Kensington Gardens & Hyde Park

Why: These need no introduction. Acres of green space to run through, well maintained grounds, and surprisingly quiet. If you are not a fan of crowds, avoid weekends when the parks can be overflowing with locals and tourists, especially during the nice days (yes they do happen in London!)

Post-workout eats: Whole Foods market on Kensington High Street. Many delicious options to choose from at their food bar including hot foods, salads, and a medley of fruits. They also offer some gluten-free and vegan options.

Closest tube stations: Hyde Park Corner takes you straight to one of the entrances to Hyde Park, or Queensway station which is approximately 5 minutes walk from Kensington Gardens.

Brockwell Park

Why: Outdoor gym with just what's needed for a great calisthenics session. As you make your way through the parcours, it's all about using your body weight and the various exercise bars and trails. Not very busy during the weekend mornings, however the crowd does increase by mid-day.

Post-workout eats: The Lido café; their home-made goji berry and quinoa granola is to die for, so are their cold pressed juices.

Closest tube stations: Brixton station is about 15 minutes walk, or Herne Hill railway station which is only 5 minutes walking distance. The gym is a bit tough to find, so look out for the bmx track and the Lido.

Reebok Fithub Covent Garden

Why: It's indoors for those pesky rainy days, accessible to everyone, and best of all free classes! Keep an eye out for what's offered by following their Facebook page.

Post-workout eats: Wild Food Café, but don't let the name scare you off. the food is not heated above room temperature, but it's tough to say no to their 'protein-a-colada', a protein rich drink with coconut cream, hemp seeds, pineapple, and so many more delicious superfoods. A perfect post-work out pick me up to recharge your batteries.

Closest tube station: 4 minutes walk from Covent Garden station.

Free London bootcamp & breakfast

Why: This group was found on the social networking site Meetup. Bootcamp is held at multiple sites throughout London. It is a great way to meet new people, so don't hesitate to consult and join their group page to be updated on their next workout sessions.

Post-workout eats: After bootcamp the group stays together for breakfast / brunch. The locations vary depending on where the session was held, but you can be sure to be amongst foodies who share the same mantra: eat well, be well.

Closest tube station: Depending on which bootcamp you will join.

Put on your trainers and get lost in the city!

Not only is it a great way to discover new neighborhoods, but you also get to sightsee from a new perspective. Create your own route, or join a sightseeing running group. Some popular ones are Secret London Runs, Love London Running Tours and City Jogging Tours.

Have a fantastic visit, and don't forget to tag #Kayero in your photos!
